Recycle Base Oil
Recycle Base Oil is eco-friendly, generating lower carbon emissions than virgin base oil. The production of virgin base oil is energy-intensive and releases higher carbon emissions. With a growing focus on environmental sustainability, the global recycled base oil market is expanding.
Oil Recycling and Environmental Benefits
Recycling used oils, such as motor and hydraulic oils, not only conserves resources but also reduces pollution. One gallon of motor oil improperly disposed of can contaminate one million gallons of water.
Due to the limited availability of raw materials for virgin oil, recycled base oil has become a crucial alternative. Producing base oil from crude oil requires 100 gallons of crude to yield one gallon of base oil, whereas only 1.4 gallons of used oil can be reprocessed into one gallon of base oil.
Recycling Process
- Pre-treatment or Dewatering: Removes water from the used oil through settling tanks.
- Filtering & Demineralization: Eliminates solids and inorganic materials for cleaner fuel.
- Propane De-asphalting: Removes heavier fractions, producing refined base oil.
- Distillation: Produces high-quality re-refined base oil.
Uses of Recycle Base Oil
Recycling oil keeps it from polluting the environment while conserving resources. It requires less energy to refine used oil compared to processing crude oil. One gallon of used motor oil can yield 2.5 quarts of lubricating oil, whereas it takes 42 gallons of crude to produce the same amount.
Sources of Used Oil:
- Motor Oil
- Industrial Oil
- Lubricating Greases
- Metal Processing Fluids
- Additives
- Hydraulic Oils
- Transformer Oils
